Acadian Corporate Newsletter Finds the Right Mix, Earns 2023 SAMMY Award

Standing out among the dozens of email newsletters people see every day has become a bit of a Herculean task these days, but the companies that master the art of getting those clicks are one step closer to a long-term relationship and a loyal client.
It’s perhaps even tougher at times to get employees to open their own corporate newsletters, and especially to read the content they include. Workers have other priorities during their shifts and don’t necessarily want to read so-called puff pieces about co-workers they may not even know or ever meet who are doing things that they don’t understand.
Although many corporate newsletters including those of security and life-safety providers run through commonly used platforms such as Constant Contact or MailChimp, that doesn’t mean dealers should also be filling it with “me-too” content. The SAMMY Awards, which are presented annually at the ISC West trade show and are now in their 28th year, recognizes installing security integrators, dealers and monitoring providers for their marketing, installation and overall business excellence.
“Educational material that is useful and timely, paired with an explanatory graphic seem to capture the reader’s attention and keep it,” says ATS Division Coordinator Michelle Trahan. Acadian employs BlueToad’s newsletter generation and delivery platform.
Timely Topics, Personnel Profiles Retain Readers’ Attention
Acadian personnel meet with the corporate PR department quarterly to create a schedule listing various topics for each edition, Trahan explains. The brainstorming, planning and scheduling process is probably more involved than what ATS’ subscriber base thinks when they receive the content.
“Some of these topics correspond with certain events occurring at that time of the year like Hurricane Preparedness, Fire Safety, Back to School, or Energy Saving Tips during the summer months,” she says.
Beyond the seasonal slate of stories, Acadian makes sure to spotlight its team’s high achievements, latest technologies and solutions, and the people who customers are putting their security faith into when they hire ATS. Trahan says newsletter content contains regular departments such as Employee Spotlights, Tenure Awards, Service Awards and new technology.
Additionally, news from all of the unique company’s wide-ranging divisions is highlighted, which besides Acadian Total Security includes: Acadian Ambulance Service, Acadian Health, Air Med Services, Executive Aircraft Charter Service, National EMS Academy and Safety Management Systems.
