CHICAGO — Motorola Solutions (NYSE: MSI) announces it has acquired 911 Datamaster, a next generation 911 (NG911) data solutions provider.
911 Datamaster’s suite of NG911 location solutions is said to help ensure that emergency calls are accurately located and routed based on the caller’s location, enabling a faster response from first responders.
Location services are essential given an estimated 240 million calls are made to 911 in the U.S. each year, and in most areas, 80% or more are from wireless devices with no fixed location, according to the company.
