Alarm.com Unveils Smart Thermostat HD
The Alarm.com Smart Thermostat HD has access to every sensor throughout a security system and takes cues from security panels, motion sensors located throughout a home, door and window sensors and more.
TYSONS, Va. — Alarm.com has introduced its new Smart Thermostat HD. The new thermostat is fully integrated into its smart home security systems and it is Energy Star-Certified.
Alarm.com explains that its newest connected thermostat offers end users high levels of control over their HVAC systems and the ability to monitor the health of their heating and cooling systems to avoid costly repairs. The company boasts the Smart Thermostat HD is a top-of-the-line solution with a sleek form factor and color touchscreen display.
According to Alarm.com, the Smart Thermostat HD is easy to install thanks to an on-display installation wizard, and the Va.-based company emphasizes that homebuilders can take advantage of immediate energy savings prior to account setup.
Smart Thermostat HD Complements Modern Smart Homes
Alarm.com points out that its new Smart Thermostat has access to every sensor throughout a security system and it takes cues from security panels, motion sensors located throughout a home, door and window sensors and more. The company notes that additional sensors can be placed in the attic or basement of a home for notifications about extreme temperatures to prevent mold or frozen pipes.
When used in tandem with Alarm.com Places, the thermostat can react to events in the home by using real-time data to adapt quickly to changes in routines. For example Alarm.com says, if a homeowner is headed home early, the location automation feature will set the thermostat forward out of “savings mode” to cool or warm the house to the preferred temperature.
Also, since it is connected to the security panel’s status and Alarm.com Places, the Smart Thermostat will set to an energy-saving temperature after leaving the house for the day. With access to real-time weather data, the Smart Thermostat can also adjust automatically on extremely hot or cold days to help save on energy bills.
The Smart Thermostat HD is also compatible with “demand response” programs from utility companies to help homeowners that are eligible for reduced rates qualify if the local electric company offers them. In the event a connected smoke and carbon monoxide sensor detects a hazard, the thermostat will also instantly shut the HVAC system down to minimize the chance of toxic gas or damaging smoke circulating throughout the home.
A Summary of the Smart Thermostat HD features:
- High-resolution, full-color touchscreen display
- Intuitive user interface and in-app diagnostic alerts
- Monthly HVAC health reports
- Motion sensor wakes display on approach
- Humidity and vent control
The new Smart Thermostat HD from Alarm.com was developed to unobtrusively integrate into today’s smart homes. Alarm.com adds the thermostat is also integrated fully into the Alarm.com smartphone app to provide users with simple control of their homes’ HVAC systems, along with their security panels, lights, locks, garage doors, and more.
