ONVIF Developers’ Plugfest Centers on Video Streaming, Recording, Playback
SAN DIEGO — More than 60 engineers tested the implementation of ONVIF’s specifications in their companies’ IP-based physical security products during the organization’s ninth Developers’ Plugfest.
Individuals representing 29 ONVIF member companies product tested and assessed ONVIF’s Profile S for video and audio streaming, and Profile G for recording and playback. The participants also tested devices using a combination of the two profiles.
Held in San Diego in September, the three-day plug fest gave developers an opportunity to test out Profile G before its scheduled 2014 release, according to ONVIF Technical Services Committee Taskforce Chairman Takahiro Iwasaki.
“With Profile G nearing its final release, interest is ramping up among developers who brought several Profile G-related test devices to the plug fest,” he says. “ONVIF’s Developers’ Plugfests continue to serve as a great opportunity for companies to bring their products for testing in a trusted, supportive environment.”
During the plug fest, participants also conducted user scenario testing. The assessment allowed users — connected with multiple devices such as a video management system, NVR and/or IP camera — to verify its ONVIF interoperability based on end-user scenarios.
ONVIF’s next plug fest will take place in Japan in February
Axis Communications, Bosch Security Systems and Sony Corp. started ONVIF in 2008. It currently has more than 470 member companies and more than 2,100 Profile S-conformant products on the market.
