Teledyne Introduces FLIR Elara DX-Series Camera

Teledyne boasts that its FLIR Elara DX-Series 606z PTZ camera incorporates a thermal sensor with 640 x 480 resolution and a full HD 4K visible imager.

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.—Adding a new FLIR series camera to its product line, Teledyne has announced its new FLIR Elara DX-Series 606z multispectral pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) security camera.

The latest Teledyne camera combines a thermal sensor with 640 x 480 resolution and a full HD 4K visible imager that supports the ability to capture sharp video where other PTZ cameras cannot. The Calif.-based company states the camera’s thermal sensor provides complete awareness in rain, snow, light fog, and total darkness to give operators the ability to monitor large areas in adverse weather and lighting conditions. Additionally, the FLIR Elara DX Series 606z PTZ camera includes onboard IR illumination, which emits light up to 200 meters, also enables superior low-light visible imaging.

Teledyne explains that once a threat is detected, it is critical to maintain eyes on the threat to coordinate a response. According to the company, the Elara DX-Series 606z meets this need by providing continuous thermal zoom up to 5x with 15 mm to 75 mm zoom lens between 30 degrees and 6 degrees while its visible sensor provides optical zoom up to 31x. The thermal zoom is synced to the visual zoom.

Some of the FLIR Elare DX Series camera’s other features include the inclusion of the company’s proprietary Nexus protocol that allows the Elara DX-Series product to slew-to-cue to targets detected by the FLIR FH-Series fence line camera or the FLIR R-Series radar in a multi-layered solution. For further threat assessment, the Elara DX-Series 606z’s visible imager enables visual identity verification, which Teledyne says is often desired for post-event investigation.

Teledyne boasts the camera’s superior visibility, detection and identification capabilities of the product provides integrators with a solution to address challenging imaging problems at critical infrastructure sites and remote facilities.

Built to handle harsh environments of critical infrastructure sites and other demanding locations, the FLIR Elara DX-Series 606z camera features a rugged design and a NEMA 4X-rated enclosure to enable the camera to operate in extreme temperatures ranging from -40ºC to 60ºC.  Teledyne supports the camera’s visibility with a lens wiper/washer that keeps lenses clean and clear in remote installations.

In addition, when it comes to configuration, the camera’s easy-to-use web interface simplifies setup. As an NDAA-compliant camera, the Elara DX-Series 606z’s enhanced cybersecurity measures safeguard a system from developing threats.
